The creatures called Giants, in the common tongue, are a race native to the Iothdûn Mountains of [[Dythrambia], that call themselves the Iothûn. Averaging 10 to 15 feet tall, Giants are the tallest of the civilized races even given their hunched stature. When standing at full height, some have been known to reach 20 feet tall. Their huge shoulders, thick neck and long arms distinguish them greatly from other, more human looking races, but they are no less civilized, living in impressive stone cities etched into the mountain faces. They bear a passing resemblance to the fearsome Volgotoi, and are believed to share a common ancestor. Despite their size and intimidating appearance, the Iothûn are an incredibly docile race. They are not afraid to fight should the need arise, however.
They commonly live in the mountains in impressive cities etched into the cliffs such as Ioathat, in the Lagadam Republic. Giants are traditionally reclusive, preferring to live amongst their own in their secluded societies. However, more and more Giants have been leaving the mountains to live in towns and cities with other species. In spite of this, few Iothûn are seen off the continent of Dythrambia, save in the Imperial Armies.
The Iothûn cities have been seen by very few, even under the control of the Eurudman Empire, and fewer still have lived to tell the tale, but not through any violence on the part of Giants. The paths to and from the cities are dangerous, and nature has taken many a traveler to an early grave on those roads. For this reason, the Iothûn are often perceived to be xenophobic, but they welcome travelers with open arms.
